RS Series Hangers

Hendrickson Truck

Vertical Drive Pin

This RS Frame Hanger guide is intended to aid in the proper identification of originally equipped RS drilled hangers and heavy duty center hangers for retrofit in the aftermarket. It lists common drill patterns and castings that were in use prior to 1983, 1983 to 1990, and 1990 to date. On glider kit installations, where Hendrickson did not have control of hanger usage, care should be taken in identification.

The frame hangers have vertical drive pins that extend down through the load cushions and are secured to rubber vertical drive cushions in the saddle. A rebound control stop kit consisting of special stop nuts and elastomer bumpers is available to increase stability in high center of gravity or offset loading vehicles. It is optional for 40,000 thru 48,000 lb. capacities and standard on 52,000 lb. units.

To use this guide, it is important to:

1. Identify the age of the vehicle 2. Measure the outside to outside frame width

3. Obtain the cast part number, and 4. Identify the truck manufacturer

Hendrickson Truck Component Charts

To assist further, we have listed for your reference, the hole diameters and the distance from the bottom of the frame to the first line of holes. In some cases, where the manufacturer changed drill patterns, but still used the same casting number, we have tried to list the date of this changeover. Hole location dimensions should be used always as a final check. For any casting number not shown or truck manufacturer not listed, contact our Technical Service Department. Frame Hanger Design The RS Series suspensions use four rubber load cushions. Each cushion has an inner cross bar that helps support the load when the vehicle is loaded. An empty vehicle is supported only by the outer edges of the cushions.

Heavy Duty Kit

The heavy duty kit for increased stability consists of an additional round center cushion and related bracket for each side of the chassis. It is optional for 40,000 lb. capacities and standard on 46,000 thru 52,000 lb. units.
